Russians in France are facing discrimination in the banking sector. Local financial institutions are closing the accounts of Russian citizens and refusing to open new ones, the Russian Ambassador to Paris, Alexey Meshkov, told "Izvestia" in an interview. According to him, Russians are also encountering difficulties in the real estate sector and other areas. The diplomat emphasized that even those Russian citizens who live in France on a permanent basis are facing challenges. They have problems opening bank accounts, resolving housing-related issues, and encounter other obstacles to normal life due to their association with Russia. Alexey Meshkov noted that the situation that has arisen has become a major challenge for the Russian diplomatic mission in France, which strives to defend the rights of citizens in difficult situations. The diplomat stressed that many French locals, despite propaganda and Russophobia, have a positive attitude towards Russia and Russians, understanding that severing relations with our country has damaged local business.
