The "Floating University" coordination center at MFTI concludes the selection for the PU and partners' expeditions, as well as coastal internships and scientific practices for the summer season of 2024. One in four contestants received an invitation to conduct joint scientific research and will be able to participate in the Floating University's marine expedition. This year, five expeditions are planned: three in the Arctic, one in the Far East in the Okhotsk Sea and Kamchatka coast, and one in the Baltic Sea. More than 400 students, participants of the 2024 PU Winter School, applied to participate in these expeditions. Of these, 222 passed the first stage of anonymous review of motivational letters and were invited for interviews. As a result, 109 students and postgraduates, future young scientists, will be able to join the team of marine researchers. Also, for the first time this year, colleagues from the I. Kant Baltic Federal University and the Atlantic Branch of the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology RAS selected 5 high school students to participate in the Baltic Sea expedition. Every year, the program attracts leading scientists from various partner organizations. This allows, on the one hand, to scale the program's opportunities for students and postgraduates, and on the other hand, to bring new talent into the scientific teams of different organizations. The expected result of the program is the attraction and development of future young scientists in the field of marine sciences. If previously we saw students successfully integrating into teams in the cities where they live and study, now there are real examples of relocation and conscious enrollment in specialized programs in other regions of the country. The Far East is especially popular. This regional support became possible because the Floating University program has covered the entire country in recent years. It offers joint work opportunities for students and scientific leaders, relying on common scientific interests rather than geography. In February 2024, 816 people participated as on-site listeners in the annual All-Russian Winter School of the Floating University, including students, postgraduates, young scientists, and high school students. They were selected from over 2200 applications received. The school took place in 11 locations in 8 cities of Russia, with the participation of 42 organizations, including universities, research institutes, and industrial partners of the project. The "Floating University" project is implemented within the framework of the UN Decade of Ocean Sciences, is part of the "Science to Win" initiative of the RF Decade of Science and Technology, and is supported by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science within the framework of the National Project "Science and Universities".
