In addition, during this year, the historical record for daily supplies to China was updated six times. It is noted that this trend indicates China's interest in Russian pipeline gas. As clarified by the company, natural gas is supplied to China via "Power of Siberia" under a bilateral long-term gas purchase and sale agreement between Gazprom and the Chinese company CNPC. Earlier, on May 3, Maxim Chirkov, Associate Professor of the Department of Economic Policy and Economic Measurements at GSU, noted in an interview with "Izvestia" the competitiveness of Russian gas in the global market. According to him, EU countries are also interested in fuel supplies from Russia. It also became known that in 2023, Gazprom supplied 227 billion cubic meters of gas to China via the "Power of Siberia" pipeline, 15 times more than in 2022. The holding added that the daily records recorded throughout the year indicate China's interest in Russian gas.
