Residents of several regions of Russia observed the northern lights in the sky on the night of May 3rd. This was reported on the "Russia 24" TV channel. The polar lights were seen last night in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, the Moscow region, Belgorod, Tver, Kursk region, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, and Perm Krai. Residents of these regions began sharing images of this rare natural phenomenon on social media, showing the sky painted in green and bright pink colors. The appearance of the northern lights was linked by meteorologists to a strong magnetic storm that has recently started on Earth. According to scientists from the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics, it was the third strongest storm since the beginning of 2024.
