On May 16, 1969, the Soviet spacecraft "Venera-5" reached Venus. A capsule was deployed into the planet's atmosphere, which operated for 53 minutes before being crushed by Venus's atmospheric pressure. During the mission, new data was obtained about the structure of plasma flows near the planet. The USSR became the first nation whose spacecraft made a landing on the surface of Venus. It was discovered that the atmosphere of Venus consists of 90% carbon dioxide, 2% nitrogen, and no more than 0.1% oxygen. Venus is the closest planet to Earth and holds significant prospects for colonization, primarily due to its similarity to Earth in terms of mass and thus gravitational force. The average density of matter on Venus is almost the same as on Earth, which theoretically makes the creation of human settlements on Venus possible.
