The "St. George Ribbon" campaign was launched in Moscow on Wednesday, April 24, according to RIA Novosti. Dmitry Kiselyov, the head of the "Russia Today" media group, reminded that its relevance is greater today than ever. He is convinced that the St. George ribbon not only reminds us of the heroism of our ancestors but also of the contemporary challenges facing our country. The campaign was first initiated nearly twenty years ago by journalists from RIA Novosti. Over the years, the St. George ribbon has united millions of people, both from Russia and abroad. Two years ago, the St. George ribbon was granted the status of a symbol of Russia's military glory. Desecration of it is punishable. This year, Victory volunteers will distribute ribbons until May 9. In the capital, they can be obtained in the city center, at railway stations, and in parks. In the Volgograd region, the campaign started near the Mamayev Kurgan. In the Voronezh region, the symbol of military glory will be passed to participants in the special military operation. Volunteers will distribute ribbons in 35 countries, announced State Duma deputy Olga Zanko, who heads the headquarters of the "Victory Volunteers" movement . These include Congo, Morocco, Peru, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and many others. There are seven thousand distribution points, including territories beyond the Arctic Circle. In the new Russian regions, for security reasons, these points were not marked on the project map. A special lesson dedicated to the St. George ribbon will be held in schools. Olga Zanko called for respect for the St. George ribbon. According to her, it should not be attached to bags, clothing below the waist, or the outside of vehicles.
