The premiere of the hybrid tractor with a low-floor cab, MAZ-X, took place in Moscow at the CTT Expo 2024, as reported by the media center of JSC "MAZ". – The new creation by the Minsk Automobile Plant, made in collaboration with its partner – "AMB Engineering", is sure to be a breakthrough in the field of efficient highway freight transportation – they are confident at the plant. The tractor is equipped with a diesel engine with a power of 220 kW (300 hp) and two electric motors, each with a power of 200 kW. Additionally, an extra 10 km can be covered thanks to a buffer energy accumulator with a recuperation system. The vehicle's range is 3000 km. The tractor's curb weight is reduced due to the absence of a transmission and the aluminum frame of the cab with plastic panels. Also, the frame is lighter, and single tires are installed at the rear. The declared load capacity of 105 tons is assured, as stated at the plant. The MAZ-X tractor has a high level of localization: the Belarusian component makes up 50%, and components from friendly countries make up 30%, as emphasized at the plant. At MAZ, they also listed the advantages of their low-floor modular cab. Firstly, it is spacious: 15 cubic meters larger than the classic cab. Secondly, it is safe. The panoramic curved windshield reduces blind spots, there is a blind spot monitoring system, a rear-view camera, a 360-degree panoramic view camera, an emergency braking system, and a lane departure warning system. The door is located on the right side. Thirdly, it is technologically advanced: multimedia functions are voice-controlled, heating systems can be started remotely. There is an electronic access limitation system, rain sensors, and door opening sensors. Fourthly, comfort: the entry is lowered (340 mm from road level, like in a low-floor bus), the driver's seat is highly comfortable, with a multifunctional steering wheel, cruise control, and climate control. For rest and meals, LED lighting is installed, two large sleeping places with orthopedic mattresses, folding tables. The equipment includes a microwave, multicooker, electric kettle, coffee machine, portable sink, and a 10-liter water tank. The Minsk Automobile Plant is the flagship of the automotive industry in the Republic of Belarus. The company specializes in the production of freight, passenger, trailer, and special vehicles. The plant produces about 500 models and modifications of trucks, all-wheel-drive vehicles, dump trucks, chassis, tractors, timber carriers, trailers and semi-trailers, cranes, and special equipment, as well as about 15 models of buses and trolleybuses.
