Residents of Russia witnessed a colorful northern lights display on Saturday - a vivid natural phenomenon caused by a powerful magnetic storm. The sky was lit up with the aurora borealis in several regions of the country in the evening — residents of Chelyabinsk, Sverdlovsk, Volgograd, Rostov regions, as well as Bashkiria, Stavropol, and Crimea, have shared images. The natural phenomenon was triggered by a strong magnetic storm, which will last for about 40 hours. According to experts, Saturday's storm, classified as G4 (severe storms that occur once per cycle), began due to solar flares, which thus reflected on Earth. In the more northern regions of our country, the northern lights can likely be seen at night.
