New science-popular routes have appeared in four regions of Russia: Moscow, Leningrad Region, Republic of Tatarstan, and Karachay-Cherkess Republic. Now, one can travel on 60 routes across 19 subjects of the Russian Federation, according to Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, co-chairman of the Coordination Committee for the Decade of Science and Technology. "The science-popular tourism program was developed by the order of President Vladimir Putin and is part of the initiative of the Decade of Science and Technology. It allows travelers to visit significant science facilities, including those within the national project 'Science and Universities.' During the May holidays, 10 new routes became available. In Moscow, the science-popular tourism program was already in place earlier, and these tours have only expanded the offering. For the Leningrad Region, Tatarstan, and Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the experience will be new — they have joined the program for the first time," commented the Deputy Prime Minister. Science-popular routes are open in Moscow, Moscow Region, Perm Territory, Krasnodar Territory, Kaliningrad Region, Sverdlovsk Region, Amur Region, Irkutsk Region, Nizhny Novgorod Region, Novosibirsk Region, Saint Petersburg, Leningrad Region, Republic of Tatarstan, Tomsk Region, Kaluga Region, Chelyabinsk Region, Chechen Republic, Karachay-Cherkess Republic, and Republic of Crimea. The new routes allow visiting major scientific facilities — the BTA optical telescope and RATAN-600 radio telescope, visiting the V.P. Engelhardt Astronomical Observatory at KFU, Innopolis, technology parks, universities, and much more. In the development of the tours, young scientists from the expert group of the Coordination Council for Youth Affairs in the scientific and educational sphere of the Council of the President of the Russian Federation for Science and Education participate. They are involved in verifying the routes at all stages: from selecting objects and organizing interactive programs to assessing the scientific component of the route. Press tours by the operator of the Decade of Science and Technology — ANO "National Priorities" are also conducted along the science-popular routes. Such trips have already taken place in Moscow and the Moscow Region, Chechen Republic, Nizhny Novgorod, Tomsk, Novosibirsk. Let us recall that the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, announced the Decade of Science and Technology from 2022 to 2031. Among the thematic tasks of the Decade are attracting talented youth to research and development, facilitating the involvement of researchers and developers in solving the most important problems of society and country development, and improving the accessibility of information about the achievements and prospects of science development for the citizens of Russia. From November 20-22, 2024, the key annual event of the Decade — the IV Congress of Young Scientists — will take place on the federal territory "Sirius". It will unite representatives of leading scientific schools from different regions of Russia, scientific and educational organizations, government bodies, industrial partners, prominent leaders of domestic science, and, most importantly, young scientists, winners of grant competitions, students, and schoolchildren from Russia and other countries.
