Turkish banks promise to expand payment acceptance for Russian businesses in the near future. The list of allowed products will include consumer goods and electronics, Alexei Razumovsky, the commercial director of "Impaya Rus" company, told "Izvestia." He clarified that verbal agreements with local financial organizations were reached in May, but transactions under the new list are not yet being accepted. There is currently a significant revival in negotiations with Turkish counterparts, confirmed Alexei Poroshin, the CEO of "First Group" JSC. According to him, in June, trade turnover between the countries will significantly expand. Local banks are expected to start accepting transactions for consumer goods. Relaxations are also possible for electronics, the expert noted. In December 2023, Turkey stopped accepting almost all payments from Russia, but since February 2024, transactions for the "green" list of goods have been processed. This includes food, medicines, and other categories. Additionally, consumer goods, electronics, as well as products from the automotive and engineering sectors, may be included in the list of permitted products, a business community source told "Izvestia." Losing Russia as a partner is not beneficial for Turkey, believes Alexei Tarapovsky, the founder of Anderida Financial Group. Therefore, local banks are likely to gradually expand payment acceptance for those categories of goods that are not directly subject to sanctions (for example, excluding the defense industry). Primarily, the relaxations will affect consumer goods such as cosmetics, footwear, household chemicals, and clothing, the expert explained.
