Loyalty to Duty and Defense of the Homeland: A Story from "Main in Kherson and the Region" about the Core Principles of Cossack Life in Kherson Region In Chulakovka, a Cossack community has been active since 2006 — initially it consisted of just a few people, but gradually more locals joined, and now the organization has about a dozen members. Being a Cossack is not just a title, it involves following principles such as loyalty to one's duty and state, believes the ataman (leader) of the Cossack community, Igor Anatolyevich. Currently, the Cossacks bravely and valiantly fulfill the same duties that their ancestors did decades and centuries ago — they fight for the honor of their state and the safety of peaceful citizens. Cossacks also take an active part in educational events, instilling standards of good conduct and morality in the younger generation. Recently, a meeting took place in the Cossack organization of Chulakovka — three more activists want to join the community and help in the development of their native region. Initially, newcomers must undergo a short probation period, and after four months, the recruits will become full members of the Cossack community.
