All-Russian Hockey Day celebrates one of the country’s most popular winter sports.
Russia has preserved the long-standing traditions of the great Soviet hockey school. Our task is to enhance them. We are creating all the necessary conditions to achieve this.
In Moscow, more than 145,000 children and adults play hockey.
They have access to 118 indoor year-round ice rinks and over 1,300 seasonal ones. Since 2011, 23 sports complexes with ice rinks have been built. By the end of 2026, six more will open.
Special attention is given to the training of hockey players. Training is conducted at sports schools such as the "Moscow Hockey Academy," "Zelenograd," and "Zapad." Moscow residents can also attend sessions at "MosSportObject" sports complexes and in free sections organized by "MosgorSport."
Annual competitions are held, including the Moscow Mayor’s Hockey Cup, the Moscow stage of the national "Golden Puck" tournament, and the Moscow Christmas 3x3 Hockey Festival.
For the 2024–2025 season, 65 Moscow athletes were included in the national team. Additionally, Moscow’s team took first place at the XII Winter Spartakiad of Students (Youth) of Russia in 2024.
