A new perspective on traditions: at the Third Russian Winemaking Forum, the best in the industry will be honored with the Golitsyn Prize, established on an annual basis. Prince Lev Golitsyn, who contributed greatly (https://t.me/firstwine/453) to the development of winemaking in Russia, once founded his own award. The concept for 2024 is based on this experience in many aspects, including the selection criteria for winners, the organization of the awards ceremony, and the formulation of nomination categories. Golitsyn rewarded for “compositions on viticulture and winemaking” with prizes for vineyards, table grapes, table wine, and separately, liqueur wine. The modern award includes the following categories: I. Prize for the best composition on viticulture and winemaking. This refers to original works, monographs, dissertations, and scientific articles on viticulture and winemaking, written in Russian over the past three years; II. Prize for the best vineyards covering an area of at least 10 hectares; III. Prize for the best table grapes; IV. Prize for the best red wine; V. Prize for the best white wine; VI. Prize for the best Russian champagne; VII. Prize for the best fortified wine; VIII. Prize for the best graduate in viticulture and winemaking specialties. The monetary reward for all categories is 1,000,000 rubles. The prize “For Contribution to Russian Winemaking” is awarded by an expert council, headed by the chairman of the Russian Union of Viticulturists and Winemakers (https://rvwa.ru/), Dmitry Kiselev. The prize is established by the AVVR in collaboration with the Roscongress Foundation, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
