According to representatives of the Russian Automobile Federation, domestically-produced Formula 4 racing cars will appear in the country within the next five years. A Russian-made gasoline engine meeting the standard requirements will be developed for these cars. It is expected to be a 1.6-liter engine from AvtoVAZ, with a power output of around 160-170 hp, based on domestic technologies. The new racing car, complete with its engine, is slated for release by 2028. Reports indicate that development has already begun. AvtoVAZ has experience developing 1.6-liter sports engines: a 200-hp version for the racing “Granta” (Granta R3), a 255-hp version for the “Vesta” (Vesta 1.6T) in the Super-production class, and a naturally aspirated 170-hp engine for another sports variant of the “Vesta.” Formula 4 racing cars use engines with a power output of 162 hp, in line with current international requirements. Formula 4 is a racing class typically involving young drivers. Formula 4 championships are held in various countries under universal rules and internationally recognized specifications for formula-type cars.
