The centennial anniversary of the Church of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos was celebrated by Orthodox believers in Lyon, France, reports the Diocese of Korsun. This is one of the oldest parishes in the Western European Exarchate. The festive service was led by the Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe, Metropolitan Nestor of Korsun and Western Europe. He congratulated all those gathered in the church on the anniversary and presented episcopal certificates to the rector, the churchwarden, the choir director, and members of the parish council. He also gifted each family a two-volume set about the saints of Lyon. The publication was prepared for the anniversary by the rector of the church, Priest Sergiy Kim. Additionally, an exhibition was opened in honor of the anniversary, telling the history of the Protection parish. As "Russian World" reported, an Orthodox church was consecrated in France two weeks ago. It was built in Chavagnon, located in Auvergne, where the Bogoroditse-Znamensky convent is situated.
