Russian citizens and compatriots living abroad who have become winners or prize-winners of international Olympiads as part of foreign national teams will have the right to enter Russian universities without entrance exams. The corresponding bill was adopted by the State Duma in the second and third readings on July 30. This concerns Olympiads in general education subjects, the list of which will be approved by the Government of the Russian Federation. As previously explained by the co-author of the initiative, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, Alexander Mazhuga, these changes will improve the mechanism for identifying and supporting talented children who have a special connection with Russia, and also make their intellectual and spiritual potential in demand for the scientific, technological, and socio-economic development of the Russian Federation.
