The Tarakanovsky Stone Bridge, originally called Checherin, was built in the 1770s. It was made of limestone and had a so-called "humped" profile.
During reconstruction in the 1920s, the Tarakanovka River was filled in, and the bridge was buried along with it.
However, in 1979, workers unexpectedly discovered it while digging a foundation pit for an underground passage.
Nevertheless, the bridge had to be dismantled because the technical condition of its two-century-old arches, which had been underground for 50 years, was very poor.
