The Russian Film Festival kicks off in Serbia on Wednesday, November 27. Its program includes not only blockbusters popular with domestic audiences but also auteur films, reports Rossiyskaya Gazeta. The screenings will be complemented by meetings between filmmakers from both countries. Additionally, the Russian-Serbian Cultural Forum, now in its fifth edition, will be held in conjunction with the 80th anniversary of Belgrade's liberation.
Until December 1, Serbian audiences will watch the fairy tale At the Pike’s Behest, and the war dramas The First Oscar and Air. Parents with children are invited to screenings of My Wild Friend, The Fire Fox, and I Take a Step. Screenings of Light and The Tales of Hoffmann are also planned.
Directors Olga Akatieva and Alexei German Jr., artist Elena Okopnaya, producers Ekaterina Filippova and Grigory Podzemelny, and screenwriter Alexander Arkhipov will present their works.
According to Roskino head Elza Antonova, the festival was first held in Serbia in 2022, featuring many films by Russian filmmakers. Furthermore, Serbian Film Days were held in Russia. She noted that Serbian partners are interested in both distributing Russian films and joint film production.
Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova highlighted the close cooperation with the Serbian side in various areas of cultural collaboration. She emphasized that mutual interest from Serbian and Russian audiences in national cinema is growing each year.
