A ceremonial opening of a restored monument at a mass grave of Soviet soldiers took place in Moldova.
The memorial is located in the village of Dorotcaia in the Dubasari district, which was liberated from fascist forces during World War II.
The restoration project was carried out by the Slavic human rights organization "Veche" with the support of the Russian Embassy in Moldova and local authorities. Updated lists of the fallen heroes were provided by the Moldovan Search Movement.
The head of the National Committee "Victory," Alexey Petrovich, along with Russian diplomats, visited the site of the heroic deed and death of Private Pyotr Kobets, who, in May 1944, covered the embrasure of an enemy pillbox with his body and was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
