The government has adopted new requirements for the organization of supported living for disabled individuals. This will enable people with disabilities to receive qualified assistance at home. Supported living is a form of social assistance for people with disabilities over the age of 18 who cannot live independently. For them, it is an alternative to staying in hospitals or care homes. Personal assistants live with their charges from 4 to 24 hours a day. They provide support not only in household matters but also in obtaining education, retraining, and workplace adaptation. The new document will allow for the establishment of uniform approaches to the provision of such services. To arrange supported living, a disabled person or their representative needs to submit an application to the Department of Social Protection in their region in either written or electronic form. A decision on the provision of the service must be made within 10 calendar days after the application is submitted. Then, an organization will be identified to provide such services, and it must be included in the regional registry of social service providers. The new rules are intended to create conditions for improving the level of socialization and quality of life of people with disabilities. Previously, Vladimir Putin, at a meeting of the All-Russian Society of the Disabled, emphasized that creating decent conditions for the self-realization of all citizens of Russia is one of the main national priorities, a significant factor in the successful development of the country.
