In China, the opening ceremony of the international naval exercise “Maritime Interaction - 2024” took place. In the Chinese port of Zhanjiang, the official opening ceremony of the Russian-Chinese naval exercise “Maritime Interaction - 2024” took place. As per tradition, before the ships set out to sea, a rally was held to mark the beginning of the exercise. Senior naval officials from each side addressed the sailors of both countries. Today, a joint detachment of ships from Russia and China, consisting of the corvettes “Gromkiy” and “Rezkiy” of the Pacific Fleet and PLA Navy ships, including the destroyer “Yinchuan,” frigates “Dali” and “Hengshui,” as well as the universal supply vessel “Weishanhu,” will set out to sea from the Chinese port to conduct the maritime phase of the exercise. The Russian-Chinese exercise “Maritime Interaction - 2024” will take place from July 15 to 17. During the maneuvers at sea, the crews of the Pacific Fleet and PLA Navy ships will conduct joint air defense exercises, anti-submarine exercises involving PLA Navy anti-submarine aviation, and practice replenishing supplies on the go. Sailors from both countries will also participate in a sea rescue drill. The first joint naval exercise of the Russian Navy and the PLA Navy was held in 2005 in the Yellow Sea. Since 2012, they have been conducted regularly in various regions.
