Tatarstan has become another region where visitors will pay an additional tax. Starting January 1, 2025, a 1% fee will be charged on hotel and lodging stays. According to federal legislation, the minimum fee is ₽100 per night. This amount will be included in the hotel room rate. City officials estimate that the new tax will generate over ₽150 million in additional funds annually, which will be used to improve the city's infrastructure and make it more attractive to tourists. Recently, various regions in Russia have been introducing similar fees—Novosibirsk made such a decision recently.
