The sixth international BRICS Games kick off in Kazan on Russia Day, with competitions in twenty-seven sports continuing until June 23. Over three thousand athletes and fifteen hundred officials from one hundred countries have arrived in the capital of Tatarstan, reports "Komsomolskaya Pravda," which published the full program of the Games. The first competitions, bringing together participants from the five BRICS countries, took place in 2017. It was then decided to expand the program by adding national sports of the participating countries. This year, athletes will compete for three hundred eighty-seven sets of medals in twenty-seven sports, taking the Games to a new level. There is great interest in the tournament from fans, with reports indicating that tickets for many finals have already sold out. The opening ceremony of the BRICS Games is scheduled for June 12, with competitions starting the next day. Athletes will compete in synchronized swimming, gymnastics, rowing, weightlifting, martial arts, badminton, table tennis, athletics, basketball, chess, fencing, and many other sports. The competitions will be held at seventeen sports venues in Kazan, many of which have been renovated ahead of the Games. Athletes have been accommodated in the Universiade Village. One of the first delegations to arrive in Kazan was from Venezuela, consisting of forty people.
