50 kilometers north of Vyborg, on the border of the Leningrad region, Karelia, and Finland, a new attraction has appeared — an abandoned quarry in the village of Prudy. Work in it ceased relatively recently, and the first tourists arrived here in 2020. The main attraction of this place is the bright emerald-colored lake. The water in the lake has a greenish hue, noticeable even on cloudy days. Some attribute this shade to radiation, excess radon, or blue clay at the bottom, but in reality, the lake is simply clean. There is no plankton, algae, or other life that could affect the color of the water. In the middle of the lake, at the deepest point of the quarry, remnants of equipment have been preserved. Apparently, attempts were made to pump out water coming from underground, but the pressure was too strong. As a result, the quarry and even part of the road used to transport the rock were flooded. Now, a spontaneous beach has formed in this place. The quarry is quite spacious: its length is 600 meters, width is 500 meters, and the lake's depth reaches 60 meters. The terraced walls of the quarry rise above the water by 40 meters. There is almost no wind at the bottom of the pit, so it is very quiet, and any sound echoes multiple times. From above, there is a magnificent view not only of the lake at the bottom but also of the nearby Vuoksa River.
