The capital is preparing for the main running event of the year – the Moscow Marathon. The mass run through the city center will take place on October 12-13 and, for the first time, will be held under the auspices of the BRICS Marathon League. The route passes through iconic spots of the capital. Runners will cover distances of 10 and 42.2 kilometers along the banks of the Moscow River, the Garden and Boulevard Rings, Tverskaya Street, and Teatralny Proyezd. Along the way, participants will see architectural symbols of the city: Stalinist skyscrapers, the Bolshoi Theater, the FSB building, the Polytechnic Museum, the Kremlin, and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. In Luzhniki, a special tent with a branded store will be set up, there will be meetings with famous athletes and pacemakers, lectures, and children's animation, and visitors will be able to receive free merchandise. On October 13, fans will be able to follow the marathon through a live broadcast. The agreement to create the BRICS Marathon League was signed during the XXVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, with the project being promoted by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Brazil and China have already expressed interest in the league. It is expected that in 2025, the BRICS Marathon League will include competitions held in other countries of the alliance.
