The selection round of the VGIK International Student Festival – "Cinema of the Future" has started. The VGIK International Student Festival is one of the most prestigious platforms for showcasing the creative achievements of future screen artists, where students from Russian and international film schools can present their academic, course, and diploma film and theater works to a wide audience. On October 23-24, the first, Russian stage of the competition will take place. The jury will select the best films, whose authors will continue to participate in the second, international stage of the festival. The second stage of the festival will take place from November 11 to 15. Applications from more than 45 countries have been submitted for this competition. Simultaneously with the international film stage, the 20th anniversary International Theater Competition will be held. This season, eight competition performances from Serbia and China will be presented to the jury and the audience. As part of the international stage, master classes and creative meetings with jury members will be held. The main events of the festival will take place at the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography named after S.A. Gerasimov and in Moscow cinemas. Student films will also be shown at more than 200 venues in 32 regions of Russia.
