Throughout this time, the museum has collected and preserved all artifacts related to the history of Russia's capital. This includes personal archives of prominent historians, collections from renowned merchant families such as the Bakhrushins, Syreyshchikovs, Naidenovs, Vishnyakovs, Shelaputins, and Sorokoumovskys. Archaeological finds made within Moscow's territory also flow into its collections. On December 3, the museum will open an exhibition dedicated to the city's history, spanning from the first millennium BCE to the beginning of World War II. The exhibition will feature paintings, graphics, photographs, rare books, household items, and decorative arts. In addition, multimedia exhibits, maps, and infographics will also be presented.
