The new park route “Malevich in the Forest,” created in collaboration with the Tretyakov Gallery, combines the traditions of romantic parks and contemporary art. All artworks do not immediately catch the eye but rather emerge through the foliage and greenery of the forest. The art objects by the “MishMash” group, titled “Subtitles,” evoke the feeling of subtitles in silent films or plays: “The growing murmur of the crowd,” “The sound of birds singing,” “Alarming music playing.” Their “Central Forest Oracle,” resembling a 1960s-style spaceship, invites visitors to ask questions that concern them. To receive answers, one must turn a drive handle. Alla Urban’s “Round Dance” simultaneously recalls radio loudspeakers and the cone-shaped skirts of the girls from Malevich’s peasant cycle. Alexander Konstantinov’s “Aqueduct” looks like a portal to another dimension: it is noticeable only when you come very close.
