Support from Moscow has allowed Gagauzia to improve dozens of kilometers of roads, reports TASS. According to the head of the autonomy, Evgenia Gutsul, in one year, fifty kilometers of dirt roads were transformed into modern roads with asphalt surfaces. She noted that the funds were provided by Russian partners.
Evgenia Gutsul added that complaints about the condition of the roads were among the most frequent during the election campaign. The large-scale road program began almost immediately after the elections.
She also reminded that Chisinau was displeased with the opposition’s victory in Gagauzia. The central government did everything possible to stifle the Gagauz autonomy and prevent contact with foreign partners. Nevertheless, direct contacts were established with Moscow and Russian regions.
As reported by “Russian World,” an agreement was signed in the spring at “Promsvyazbank,” which helped connect Gagauzia residents to the Russian payment infrastructure. The head of the autonomy promised to assist pensioners and public sector employees in obtaining bank cards.
PSB head Petr Fradkov noted that to expand humanitarian support, it is necessary to ensure cross-border settlements and the availability of other banking products. He added that Gagauzia representatives living in Russia would receive additional services at a separate rate.
