The opening ceremony of the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games will take place on July 26 in Paris. Russian athletes will participate under neutral status and only in individual events. According to the IOC website, only 15 athletes from Russia will participate.
Cycling
Tamara Dronova, Alena Ivanchenko, and Gleb Sirytsa will compete for medals in cycling. They are multiple champions in international and national competitions.
Tennis
The majority of Russian athletes will participate in tennis competitions. Among the seven participants are:
• Daniil Medvedev - one of the most well-known tennis players in the world.
• Elena Vesnina - Olympic champion in 2016, silver medalist at the 2020 Olympics, winner of three Grand Slam tournaments, and holder of many other awards.
Canoe
Zakhar Petrov and Alexei Korovashkov intend to participate in canoe races in Paris. Both are multiple world and European champions.
Artistic Gymnastics
In artistic gymnastics, Russia will be represented by Angelina Melnikova and Nikita Nagornyy.
• Angelina Melnikova is an Olympic medalist and world champion, being one of the most titled gymnasts in the Russian team.
• Nikita Nagornyy is an Olympic champion in team events and a multiple medalist at world and European championships.
Athletics
In athletics, Mariya Lasitskene and Anzhelika Sidorova will represent Russia.
• Mariya Lasitskene is one of the most dominant high jumpers in recent years, winning multiple world and European titles.
• Anzhelika Sidorova is a world champion in pole vaulting and holder of several European titles.
