Applications are still being accepted for grants from the federal budget for the production of national films. The competition is regularly held by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. In 2024, for the first time, the focus is on films that popularize science and the achievements of Russian scientists.
The organizers of the competition welcome applications for feature and documentary films about the outstanding scientists of our country, including modern young researchers. The Ministry suggests basing plots on well-known scientific projects, such as the development of the Sputnik V vaccine, Soviet scientific expeditions to Antarctica, the creation and launch of the first artificial satellite of Earth, and many others.
Applications are accepted in three genres: feature films, animated films, and non-fiction films.
Only legal entities can participate in the competition. The works will be evaluated on a 100-point scale based on criteria such as the organization’s staff experience, material and technical resources for production, artistic value, relevance, and creative uniqueness of the project.
Documents are accepted electronically from October 1 to 31 via the Ministry of Culture's Application Portal. Detailed information on the selection criteria and the organization of the competition can be found in the relevant section on the Ministry of Culture's website.
The inclusion of science popularization topics and the work of Russian scientists in the competition was initiated by the President of Russia during the Decade of Science and Technology.
