Russian doctors performed over 3,000 organ transplant operations in 2023.
Thanks to the efforts of Russian transplantologists, patients who have undergone organ transplants can live full lives. This was stated by Health Minister Mikhail Murashko.
Each year, domestic doctors perform more and more organ transplant operations. While in 2020 and 2021 there were just under 2,000, in 2023 the number of such procedures exceeded 3,000.
"Russian transplantology has achieved outstanding results comparable to the best world standards," Murashko noted.
The minister also added that specialists from the Shumakov Transplantology Center have developed and implemented programs that have no analogues in the world. For this, they were awarded the State Prize in the field of science and technology, which was presented on June 12.
Work in this direction is carried out within the framework of the federal project "Medical Science for People," which was launched in 2022. In just a few years, new opportunities have appeared in the country for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases previously considered incurable.
In addition, practical scientific research is being conducted; since the beginning of 2024, they have started on 625 topics. The number of clinical trials of drugs is also increasing: in the last five years, their number has grown from 7 to 33.
Already this year, Russian scientists have presented several unique drugs. For example, the drug "ComboSpas," developed by specialists from Ryazan, is capable of stopping bleeding in just 10-15 seconds.
