One of the longest buildings in the city was constructed in the 1970s, stretching 700 meters. This building resembles a snake or a question mark, and locals call it the "Chinese Wall." At one time, the "Snake House" was considered a breakthrough in panel construction and a masterpiece of Soviet engineering thought.
According to one version, the building was constructed to protect part of the district from the piercing winds of the Gulf of Finland. According to another version, the house was built along the line of trenches that were located nearby, as during the Great Patriotic War, this area was the front line of Leningrad's defense.
The simplest explanation is that the chain of five buildings surrounds a natural pond.
