Congratulating the newspaper on its anniversary, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that today, materials and thematic supplements of "MK" are read by subscribers and internet users both in Russia and abroad.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs appreciates the attention that the editorial team gives to covering key international issues," said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in his congratulatory message.
The first issue of "Yunyi Kommunar" was published on December 11, 1919. The newspaper received the name "Moskovsky Komsomolets" in 1929.
The publication has collaborated with famous writers, including Osip Mandelstam, Mikhail Sholokhov, Fazil Iskander, Andrei Voznesensky, and Julian Semenov.
In the Soviet era, "MK" was the Moscow regional and city Komsomol newspaper. After the collapse of the USSR, the publication became federal and is now distributed across all regions of Russia and in both neighboring and distant foreign countries.
