A unified team from Russia will participate in the V World Nomad Games. Today, the World Nomad Games kick off in Astana. This grand celebration of sports, culture, and friendship will continue until September 13. The Committee of National and Non-Olympic Sports of Russia has formed a Unified Team, which will compete under the national flag for the first time in the history of the Games. Previously, teams represented individual regions of the Russian Federation.
"It is a great honor to represent Russia at the World Nomad Games. In the current geopolitical context, it is especially important that we will compete under the flag of our country, highlighting the unity and solidarity of the peoples of Russia," said Igor Pavlyuk, Vice President of the Committee and head of the delegation of the Unified Team of Russia.
The Russian team consists of over 150 athletes competing in all 21 sports of the Games. The large-scale tournament includes competitions in national martial arts, archery, traditional intellectual and folk games, as well as equestrian events. In total, around 2,500 athletes from 90 countries will participate in the V World Nomad Games. The Games, held since 2014, are listed as UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage and aim to promote the development of ethnosport and ethnocultural movements globally, as well as national sports in general. video_2024-09-09_22-40-43
