Indeed, the support beams at the base of the church rest on centuries-old stumps. The church was built in 1835 and has reached us almost in its original form, despite being closed during the Soviet era and used as a grain storage. The church is currently closed, but inside, frescoes from the 1840s have been preserved, although it is almost impossible to get inside. The road to the village passes through fields, requiring a turn off the Bezhetsk-Krasny Kholm highway, followed by a few kilometers on blocks in poor condition. You cannot drive directly into the village because a barrier stands near the church. Under one of the entrances, there is a crawl space leading to the basement, from which it may be possible to get inside the church and open the iron bolt on the gates from the inside. This method of entry was shared by the blogger p01ina on Instagram. Surrounding the church are thickets of hogweed. I've written a lot about the Bezhetsk district of the Tver region, given the abundance of interesting places in this area. However, along the road between Bezhetsk and Tver, there isn't as much, but there are still some noteworthy spots. One such place is the mid-19th-century estate of Mikhnevo, or alternatively known by the name of its primary owner, Trubnikov. Currently, the estate is in a ruined state, but volunteers are looking after the grounds. Once, this estate was considered exemplary. After the revolution, the estate was nationalized, a fruit and vegetable school was established here, and later, it was handed over to the Tver Carriage Works' sanatorium. According to reviews, the sanatorium had caused significant damage to the estate by the 1990s. In the early 90s, the estate was looted and subsequently burned down in a mysterious fire. A beautiful spruce alley leads to the main house. Approaching the estate complex, you can also notice a marshy manor pond on the right. It is said that if you wander through the thickets, you might also find fruit trees dating back to the time of the fruit and vegetable school, as well as heavily overgrown manor trees.
