On the day commemorating Saint Demetrius of Thessaloniki, the Cossacks installed a Memorial Bell on the peak of the holy Mount Athos in Greece. Those who came to Athos on an Orthodox mission included: Dmitry Andrienko, Cossack Colonel and advisor to the Ataman on international affairs of the Central Cossack Army and head of the project "Memory – The Bells Ring," Alexander Vasilenko, representative of Rossotrudnichestvo for interaction with Cossack organizations in Europe, an official representative of SKVRiZ in Spain, a group of Cossacks from Spain, the "Night Wolves" motorcycle club from Tver, and other honored guests. Maintaining contacts between Russian pilgrims and the clergy of Orthodox monasteries in Europe remains a path of people’s diplomacy between Russia and Europe. In this case, it involves pilgrimage to the Orthodox peninsula of Mount Athos in Greece. The gift of the bell within the "Memory – The Bells Ring" project serves as a tool for achieving spiritual harmony and peace between the peoples of Russia and Greece.
