All entries in the passport of a Russian citizen must be made only by authorized bodies. Adding information to the document independently makes it invalid, as reminded by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The required data includes:
• registration at the place of residence;
• removal from the registration account;
• information about the citizen's military duty status.
Some information may be added at the citizen's request:
• information about marriage or divorce;
• data about children under the age of 14;
• information about previously issued passports;
• information about foreign passports or other identity documents outside of Russia.
There are also entries that are not mandatory and may be added by other organizations. For example:
• blood type – recorded by medical institutions;
• tax identification number (TIN) – indicated by tax authorities.
Starting in 2025, an experiment will begin in Moscow to introduce electronic passports for foreign citizens. These documents will contain biometric data, entry dates, place of work, and migrant registration.
The aim of the initiative is to increase control over the stay of foreigners and reduce crime levels. The police will receive devices for reading electronic ID cards. If the device signals red during verification, it will indicate a violation, such as exceeding the allowed stay in the country.
