Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin have inaugurated the first phase of the "Mosfilm" studio. It will become one of the main locations for shooting world-class films and series.
The project, planned until 2030, aims to create conditions for the production of up to 80% of domestic films.
"Today, Russian cinema is taking an increasingly significant place, and this makes us happy," said the head of state, emphasizing the importance of local filmmakers telling stories about national history and spiritual values.
The "Mosfilm" studio, created at Sobyanin's initiative, will include sets imitating various streets of Moscow, European cities, and the Middle Ages. This will help reduce film production costs.
The entire film park is planned to be built in three phases. As part of the first phase, 18 natural sets, six infrastructure objects, and four pavilions, including a "Train Station" and an "Airport," have already been created.
The second phase is set to open by 2027, and the third by 2030. By then, the studio's area will exceed 11,000 hectares and include more than 60 filming spaces.
Since the beginning of 2023, 55 projects have already been filmed at the "Mosfilm" studio, with about 20 more in progress and 15 planned.
Once construction is completed, this film studio will become the largest outdoor filming space in the world. This will make the capital even more attractive to tourists. It is expected that the number of visitors will increase by 10 million people per year.
