The Russian-speaking Alexandrovsk Society in Finland has appealed to the European Parliament for help regarding the opening of the border with Russia, reports RIA "Novosti." This is stated in a petition posted on the European Parliament's website on the night of October 10. The authors of the document are convinced that this decision has negatively affected the lives of Finnish families with relatives in Russia. They note that the closure of the land border worsens the living conditions of people residing in regions bordering our country. Additionally, this decision harms the economy of eastern Finland. The petition's authors are asking the European Commission to issue a directive to the Finnish government to correct what are allegedly illegal actions by the authorities, which violate the rights of Finnish and Russian citizens, as well as asylum seekers. They mention that there are no known facts indicating an increase in the number of asylum seekers, the influx of which Finnish authorities allegedly attribute to Russia's actions.
