Oksana Chernyshova, President of the Guild of Perfumers of Russia, shared her thoughts on the scents of the city on the Neva: There is a collection dedicated to the smells of St. Petersburg. In the city, there are places that have their own absolutely distinct image. For example, the Zoshchenko Museum-Apartment — this is the writer’s leather briefcase, filled with papers, which he took with him during the evacuation. And in the top notes, there is grapefruit, which reflects the note of bitter humor that Zoshchenko was so famous for. This fragrance was created specifically for the writer’s museum-apartment. The perfumer is convinced that the city can and should have its own scent. And she even knows the ingredients that go into the recipe for such a smell. To understand what St. Petersburg smells like, you need to mix (choose the proportions yourself) the following ingredients: “evening Nevsky”, piercing wind, damp leaves, sudden rain, night fog, floral accord, and cold air.
