An Australian emu is racing through the forests near Syktyvkar, kicking volunteers and breaking traps. In the Komi region, for four days now, people have been trying to catch the proud descendant of velociraptors—an Australian emu named Vasya. After a scuffle with a fellow emu on the local farm, Vasya got upset, broke the fence, and escaped. Volunteers and local residents are working together to catch the high-speed bird. They have crafted clever traps, but Vasya is undeterred—he tears through nets with his powerful legs, and tranquilizer darts can’t penetrate his thick feathers. One of the pursuers, who almost caught up with the emu, received a strong kick and was left empty-handed. Today, Vasya avoided yet another ambush. Desperate Komi residents have put out a call for everyone to join in the hunt for this Australian beast. Vasya is still holding on but has begun to tire.
