Perm and Omsk have been awarded the status of Youth Capitals of Russia for the next year, reports TASS. Votes were split almost equally between the two cities. According to Sergei Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, more than 800,000 people participated in the voting, which was conducted online via the public services portal. The results were announced during the "Time of the Youth" award ceremony. Perm Mayor Eduard Sosnin promised that the city would become the best youth capital and invited everyone to visit. Omsk Region Governor Vitaly Khotsenko noted that many people supported Omsk and stood by it. He also recalled that the bid submitted by Omsk residents for the contest was titled "The City Called Sun." As reported by "Russian World," residents of Russia were able to vote for one of five finalist cities: Khabarovsk, Novy Urengoy, Omsk, Perm, and Tomsk. The "Youth Capital" project is part of the "Time of the Youth" youth achievement award by Rosmolodezh. According to organizers, the voting was the final and decisive stage. In the first round, nearly twenty cities, including cities from the new regions such as Mariupol, Melitopol, and Ilovaisk, competed for this title. The five finalists were selected by an expert jury, which included government representatives, businesspeople, journalists, youth organization leaders, mentors, and Heroes of Russia.
