In 1912, the centennial of the Patriotic War of 1812 was celebrated, and on this occasion, numerous souvenirs were released, as well as delicacies, the names of which played on this theme. It was then that a layered pastry with cream, cut into triangles, appeared in Moscow, hinting at Napoleon's tricorn hat, without which the emperor could not be imagined. The cake was so well-liked by Muscovites that it remains one of the most popular treats today, although its shape has long since ceased to be triangular. There are many legends about the Napoleon cake, but it is a fact that the cake first appeared in Moscow.
