Russian authorities have declared the development of the Far East a priority for the entire 21st century, President Vladimir Putin reminded during his speech at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). The event took place on Thursday, September 5, as reported by RIA “Novosti.” According to the Russian leader, life itself has proven the correctness of this decision. Modern challenges and objective economic trends show that the overall development vector is moving toward the East and the Global South. The region helps overcome barriers created by “certain Western elites.” Over the past decade, the number of new projects in the Far East has exceeded three and a half thousand. These projects cover various fields, from education to industry. Vladimir Putin promised that the scientific and educational potential of the Far East would continue to develop. New university campus projects have already begun in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Khabarovsk. However, the president noted that this is not enough for the Far East. Advanced engineering schools will operate there, with two already functioning. The company “RusHydro” has created a scientific and technical center on Russky Island, where the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) will also establish an innovative scientific and technological center. The president tasked the government with developing mechanisms to attract scientists from both Russia and other countries. The head of state called the Far East a key factor in strengthening Russia’s position in the world. This region has become a flagship in the new global economic reality. To a large extent, the future of our country depends on the development of the Far East, Vladimir Putin stated.
