The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has declared a Romanian diplomat persona non grata. This was communicated to the head of the Romanian diplomatic mission, Cristian Istrate, who was summoned to the foreign ministry on Wednesday, July 3. The ministry noted that this step was a response to Bucharest's actions. It should be recalled that in May, Romanian authorities decided to expel a Russian diplomat, citing actions contrary to the provisions of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. The Russian Embassy called the accusations against its employee baseless.
