Vladimir Putin participated in the launching ceremony of the nuclear icebreaker "Chukotka." The icebreaker was built at the Baltic Shipyard and is the fifth nuclear-powered vessel in the 22220 project series. The nuclear icebreakers of this project are the largest and most powerful in the world, designed to ensure year-round navigation in the Arctic. They are capable of breaking through ice up to three meters thick. In the coming period, "Chukotka" will undergo final outfitting and sea trials. Currently, the shipyard is constructing two more icebreakers from the same series — "Leningrad" and "Stalingrad."
