There are so many eco-trails popping up that it makes you think this might all be some trendy nonsense.
But today, I was pleasantly surprised by the barefoot trail in Losiny Ostrov Park.
The route is 3600 meters long and must be walked barefoot.
There are 43 types of surfaces: wood chips, gravel, boulders, sand, mud, crushed stone, expanded clay, pine cones, and a bunch of other materials that change as you go.
The idea is that you'll treat your feet to the frequent change of surfaces.
But the harsh truth is that 70% of the route is painful for city feet that aren't used to going barefoot.
The route was completed in 1 hour and 10 minutes, but 7 hours after the walk, my feet are still burning!
So tip #1 – if you don't like the surface or it's painful, just step off the trail and walk around!
