The television towers of the Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network will be illuminated with festive architectural and artistic lighting on August 22, Russia's Flag Day, according to the network's press service as reported by TASS.
"The Ostankino TV Tower will be lit in the colors of the tricolor and will display the message 'August 22 — Russia’s National Flag Day' on its media facade. A real flag, measuring 4.5 by 1.5 meters, flies atop the highest TV tower in Russia and Europe all year round. The congratulatory message 'Happy Russia’s National Flag Day!' will run as a ticker on the TV towers in Bratsk, Orenburg, Saratov, and Ulan-Ude. The festive programs for the Blagoveshchensk and Chelyabinsk TV towers will also feature the Russian Federation coat of arms and tricolor patterns," the statement said.
It was noted that themed light shows will begin at dusk on antenna-mast structures in Birobidzhan, Blagoveshchensk, Bryansk, Veliky Novgorod, Grozny, Kyzyl, Nalchik, Novosibirsk, Penza, Samara, St. Petersburg, Simferopol, and other cities.
Russia's National Flag Day was established 30 years ago, in 1994, by a decree of the President of the Russian Federation.
