Tulips, Pushkin, Painting, and Music: The XII Tulip Festival will take place on Elagin Island
The program will last for 4 weekend days:
- May 18 and 19 will be dedicated to the opening of the Festival and the earliest varieties of bulbous plants: hyacinths, fritillaries, and daffodils;
- May 25 and 26 the Festival program will continue with performances by musicians, and the highlight will be the peak bloom of tulips in all the flower beds of the Park.
This year, the Festival is dedicated to the anniversary of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin and his poetry. In honor of the poet's 225th anniversary, Park specialists planted 225 thousand flowers on an area of 4,000 sq.m, and six of the largest flower beds are named after Pushkin's epithets-neologisms: "широкошумный" (broadly buzzing), "кокетственный" (coquettish), "приятно-томный" (pleasantly languid), "тишистый" (quiet), "вечно-праздный" (eternally festive), "благородно-независимый" (nobly independent).
Ticket prices: 300 rubles – adults, 50 rubles – schoolchildren and full-time students. Preferential categories – free.
